Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 3
Dream? Dream? Dream? I mean this must be a dream. Steven is one of the most holy guy in church, I mean he is always active in the things of God.
âSteven!â I yelled.
âJoanneâ Steven replied with fear in his voice as he quic-kly stood up and Jessica hissed, wore her clothes and went upstairs. Iâm used to walking in on her having S-x but what the hell! Steven of all people.
âIâm disappointedâ I managed to say before going to my room.
My mom returned home later in the day but my dad didnât, he had some issues to sort out.
âGood evening momâ I greeted as she sat down on the couch looking so exhausted.
âMy darling, how are you?â She asked.
âIâm fine mom, what did you buy for me?â
âJoanne, must I always buy you something, you are no longer a baby oooâ she replied jokingly opening her bag as she brou-ght out a gold chain with a lovely heart shaped pendant.
âThanks momâ I jumped up for joy and took the chain from her wearing it on my nÂŁÂąk.
âWhere is Jess? I got her something tooâ
âShe is upstairsâ I replied.
A call interrupted our conversation, it was from Steven, he has been b!owing up my phone since the incidence earlier but I declined the call and continued chatting with mom before Jessica joined us.
âJess darling, can you plea-se get me a glas-s of water?â mom calmly asked.
âNo I canât!â Jessica replied.
âWhy not?â My mom asked with anger.
âIâm not Kira the house help and Kira would never be me so if you would plea-se excuse me Iâve better things to doâ she said and attem-pted to leave when my mom landed a h0t sl@p on her face.
âHow dare youâ Jessica shouted.
âJoanne can you see whatâs happening?â My mom questioned dumbfounded. I remained silent, personally I supported the fact that she declined bringing the water. I mean what was Kira there for but she would have said it politely, but she kind of did anyways never mind my opinion but she deserved that sl@p she had been a pin in my as-s for a while now. Mom grounded Jessica and took away her gadgets and would return them in a month time. I was happy with momâs decision not because she disobeyed just because Jess and I have an unfinished business. When dad got home that day hell broke lose, he punished Jessica to the extent that she wished she was never born.
Weeks went by and I was to resume second semester next week Monday and today was Thursday. I was alre-ady packing my things because I plan to leave tomorrow. Jaden went to school yesterday so I was on my own because mom and dad went on a trip as usual and Jessica went to see her b©yfri£nd. I called Debbie to come help me out.
âWhat are you packing that I have to help you out?â She asked over the phone.
âplea-se na, st©p behaving like Iâm the crazy oneâ I replied.
âFine, Iâd be there shortlyâ
âThank you bestieâ I replied tossing my phone on the be-d. When Iâm in school I make sure I avoid Debbie so she wouldnât spoil my vibes with her Christian attitude, we are only besties when Iâm at home or in church or at school on seldom occasions.
She got here and we started talking, I havenât told Debbie about Ken and I being in a relationsh!pbut I plan on telling her soon but not today, I donât know why I feel uncomfortable telling her because she and ken were never in a relationsh!por were attra-cted to themselves so i didnât break the girl code but I was still feeling uneasy about telling her.
âSo any gist?â I asked so as to make the room lively.
âThe JHD are organising a crusade next month and I was asked to preachâ she said really feeling proud of herself.
âMust you always spoil the mood with your Jesus stuff and by the way when did you become a pastor?â I asked folding my clothes into a box.
âIt is a student fellowsh!pand the Holy Spirit ministered to Brother Joseph to make me the officiating minister for the day. My sister you nee-d to see how scared I was when Joseph told me about it but after praying The Lord gave me strength to face the situation and take advantage of itâ she replied with a smile.
âAnd why are you telling me about it?â I asked with disgust.
âI want you to come and join the JHD and also attend the crusade. The Lord is going toâŠâ
âSt©p there Deb, plea-se Iâm not in the mood for this, I canât go one conversation with you without you talking about Christian stuff. What the f*@k is wrong with you? Iâm tired abeg start going homeâ I pushed her out of my room, I could hear her say âThe Lord would t©uçh your heart somedayâ Her words infuriated me who does she think she is? Jesus? I doubt that, Iâm tired of all this her holy holy.
I continued packing and put a call throu-gh to Gina who just landed in the country.
âPastor daughter!â She tea-sed
âBabe abeg, you know I donât like that title.â I replied.
âSorry ooo child of the World, anyways Iâm having a p@rty tomorrow I alre-ady told Tessa about it, she would be back from New York tomorrow.â She added.
âWhat about Becky?â I asked.
âBecky c@mÂŁ back from Dubai yesterdayâ she added but the background was so noisy I ba-rely could hear her.
âIâll call you later it seems you are busy, Australian babyâ I said
âLater ooo Pastor childâ she ended the call before I could say a word.
So Becky is back and she couldnât even tell me, how cruel of her, I tossed and turned on my be-d I wanted to call her but a p@rt of me said I shouldnât so I just l@yon my be-d waiting for my dad to return so he could give me some money, I was lost in my thoughts when I heard noise downstairs, I knew it was my dad and mom so I rushed downstairs to welcome them.
âMom, dad welcome backâ I greeted as I hvgged my mom who looked so happy for a reason unknown.
âHow are you my dear? Hope youâve eaten?â She asked still smiling.
âYes mom, why are you so happy?â I couldnât hide my curiosity anymore.
âDarling, Iâm travelling to the UK next month for the world women conference and Iâm officiating on one of the days and I get to be with other great women of God, Iâm more than happy, Iâm grateful to Godâ she smiled brightly.
âHa! Iâm happy for you mom, so happy for youâ I hvgged her ti-ght. All this while my dad alre-ady went upstairs so I didnât see him to ask him for the money I nee-ded.
âMomâŠâ
âI know, go and ask him, donât forget to knock before enteringâ she added before heading to the kitchen with Kira.
I knocked on the door gently but no response, I did it again for the second time before my dad answered from inside.
âCome in!â I heard his masculine voice.
On getting in I saw bundles of money arranged on his table, to my estimations it was up to 500 thousand or maybe more.
âHey dad, Iâd be going to school tomorrowâ I said calmly. My dad and I have a very rocky relationsh!p, since I could remember I have always disappointed my dad and I was fine with it, since his problems donât affect my lifestyle and he sought out my bills, most at least.
âAnd?â He asked.
âI nee-d some money to surviveâ I replied.
âJoanne! How much do you nee-d? I said nee-d not WANT oooâ he la-id emphasis on the nee-d.
