Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 5

The news almost gave me hypertension. I was shocked.

To be sincere, my mum is a very busy woman. She doesn’t have time for visitations like that. Once she calls, once in a while and you’re fine, that’s all.

Many thoughts came to my mind.

“Mum, can’t we pray on phone?” I asked her.

“No daughter, I want to see your face. I hope you are not lean? I just want to see your face again. Where do you stay? Is it that formal lodge?” Mum asked.

I couldn’t answer her.

“Mum, when are you coming?” I asked.

She told me she was coming that same day in the evening.

You could imagine how shocked I was.

I didn’t know what to do.

All attempts to discourage my mum from coming were futile.

I had no choice. I accepted my fate.

I called Daniel to tell him about the latest development. His response made me vexed.

He told me to bring mum to my apartment. He said he would leave the house for my mum and stay in a place till she takes her leave.

My mum is such an inquisitive woman. She would get to know that a guy stayed with me. She mustn’t be aware of my campus affairs.

A thought came to my mind. At the spur of the moment, I placed a call across to my best friend, Darasimi. I explained everything to her.

She told me to pack some of my belongings to her room. She packed some of hers out of her room to my apartment.

Immediately, I started packing few clothes and shoes.

I went straight to her room, changed her bedspread, arranged my shoes on her shoe rack.

After one hour, mum called.

I went to pick her up and we both came to my friend’s room.

Mum was so happy to see me. She thought I moved from my formal apartment to a new one.

After some time, she led the prayers.

As she was praying, she said she sensed something.

Mum was just suspicious.

“Darasimi, whose picture is this?” Mum asked.

Immediately, I remembered I forgot to remove the pictures hung on the wall.

“Mum, it’s for my best friend. Do you still remember her? Ever since she gave up the ghost, I couldn’t erase her picture from my heart.

She really made indelible marks in my life. And I can’t just forget her so soon. That was the reason why I made an enlarged picture of her in my room. Each morning, I remember her. I wish she wasn’t gone. I love her so much.” I lied, trying to fake tears.

” Damilola, you didn’t tell me your friend gave up the ghost.” Mum said.

Mummy, I forgot to tell you.

” I’m so sorry for the loss my daughter” Mum said as she hugged me.

Mum continued the prayers.

We prayed for hours.

When it was getting dark, mum announced to me that she wanted to take her leave.

Before she finally left, she counseled me. She told me not to forget God. She told me to be careful.

I hugged her and promised to make her proud.

It was as if she shouldn’t leave me.

She finally left.

I packed my stuffs, ready to leave my friend’s room.

I was happy she didn’t get to know about my affairs in school.

I went straight to my own apartment. I was happy the door wasn’t locked.

Immediately I entered the room, I saw Daniel and Darasimi on my bed…
