? EPILOGUE?

Two years Later….

Scarlett laid on her bed, staring at the ceiling. She had just woken up. Beside her bed was the alarm clock.

It was 4:26 am.

Her alarm usually rings at exactly five in the morning but she was up earlier before it rings.

Life has always been this way for the past two years. Placing both her legs on the floor, she wore her bathroom slippers and walked towards the balcony, tightening her night gown around her waist.

She leaned against the barrister rails, staring out into the morning sky which was still dark.

A soft wind blew against her face, causing her to sigh. She took out her cigarette case and lit one.

Blowing smoke in the air, she tried calming her mind. It was always chaotic in moments like this.

As she smoked, she thought of many things, of the past two years and how far she had gone with her life.

She was in the real estate business. In two years, she was ontop the world as one of America’s top millionairess. It took a hell of work to get her name cleared as an ex pórnstar and Larry Cage’s killer.

Well, not after Craig came out clean, spilling the truth.

She was Soo rich now she need not worry about the future. She leaned over to gaze at her mansion. It was located with a perfect view of the ocean and it’s own private beach. In her garage were a Maybach Mercedes Benz, a Ferrari and a red Bugatti she had traded her old version for.

It was unbelievable how far she had gone with her life. She was eating well and her daughter, Daisy was just as bright as always.

Scarlett let smoke drift off her nostrils, flicking the cigarette away from her.

Leaving the balcony, she left her bedroom for the kitchen.

She put on the heater and placed a kettle on it. She was going to make coffee and have breakfast. As a business woman, she always have breakfast much earlier before the stroke of six. She was out of the house at exactly six fifteen.

Taking out bread from the fridge, she placed some peanut butter on the table and made toast.

The water boiled in the kettle until it steamed. Scarlett took it down and made coffee.

In a matter of minutes, she was seated on the dinning table, eating breakfast.

She opened her laptop scrolling through the screen with her mouse while she ate.

She checked the stock market, then her businesses and finally read some emails.

She had houses in Dubai under construction. She might need to take the next flight to check her interests there.

There were also houses in Miami, south Africa, Los Angeles and Brooklyn NY. She was growing. She felt proud of herself.

Suddenly, a call came through on her iPhone. Bringing out the iPhone 13 from her pocket, she stared at the screen.

Daisy was Face Timing her.

Scarlett was sure London might be getting on to evening. Daisy was schooling there.

Daisy’s face came full in the screen. Scarlett forced a smile as she stared at her daughter.

” What’s up, baby,” she said softly. ” How are you?”

Daisy was laying on her bed which faced the vast window behind her. Scarlett was right. It was getting on to evening. The sun was setting.

” Though I might call, mama,” Daisy said. ” You up early today?”

Scarlett shrugged. ” That’s right. Got to be up early for work.”

” And eating bread and peanut butter in the morning?” Daisy said, licking her lips as her eyes took into view her mother’s breakfast. ” Yummy.”

Scarlett sipped from her mug. ” How’s school over there?”

” Boring,” Daisy whined. ” I wanna come home.”

Scarlett wasn’t surprised. ” Alright, when?”

” After I’m done with exams. I really missed you, mama.”

Scarlett rubbed the back of her neck. ” Yeah, missed you too.”

Daisy’s face became sad. ” Are you still drinking?”

Scarlett shook her head. ” Nope. I’ve been sober for four months now.”

” You sure?” Daisy had doubts written on her face. ” You haven’t been to your crazy ways, have you?”

” Trust me, I’m sober.”

” I hate it when you drink,” Daisy said, her voice hard. ” You make me worried.”

Scarlett smile widened. ” Like I’ll always say, I’m fine. Don’t worry about me. I’ve changed. Nothing’s changed since you left. I’m still the same mother you’ve known growing up.”

” Are you still depressed?”

Scarlett was still depressed but she didn’t feel the need to let Daisy worry. ” I go to the cinema every weekends. Sometimes I pay for seats to watch a comedy stand show. Hey, I got over my depression months ago. I’m perfectly fine.”

Daisy became cheerful again. ” That’s good to know. When I’m back home, we’ll go together.”

Scarlett knew she had lied to Daisy. All her weekends were spend working. And she was very much depressed unless of course, she stopped drinking months ago.

” Heared any words from Marcel, yet?” Daisy asked.

” Yeah,” Scarlett said. ” He lives in Ohio with his mom now. Haven’t paid them a visit for a while. But I placed a call the other day. We talked for a while. He do wish to meet you for Thanksgiving. Maria and I are organizing a family reunion. We’d celebrate at Ohio.”

” Super,” Daisy said excitedly. ” Can’t wait to meet Marcel. How old is he anyway?”

” Six years.”

” That old?” Daisy seemed surprised. ” Man, he’s growing fast.”

Scarlett said nothing. Daisy was going to celebrate her sixteenth birthday by November. It seemed odd how fast she had grown.

” Oh mom,” Daisy was now blushing. ” Can I come home with someone?”

Scarlett sipped slowly from her mug again. ” Sure. Who’s she?”

” He’s not a she, mama,” Daisy said. ” It’s My boyfriend. I want you to meet him.”

Scarlett nearly splutter on her drink. She coughed, staring surprisingly at her phone.

” Wait, you got yourself a boyfriend without telling me?”

” Well, I told you now.”

Scarlett took a deep breath. ” Baby, when you’re about doing stuffs like that, it’s best you let me in on such things first.”

” Yeah, my mistake. But can he come? Pretty please?”

Scarlett rubbed her temples, groaning. ” Sure, why not?”

Daisy squealed. ” Thanks Mama. You’ll like him the moment you see him. He’s the perfect gentleman.”

” A British?”

” Yeah, he’s from Ireland but he’s schooling in London with me.”

Scarlett rolled her eyes. ” Hey, no funny business over there. You guys play it cool, alright? You’re there to study not explore the unknown.”

Daisy yawned tirelessly. ” Yeah, I know. I’m kinda sleepy. I gotta crash. Love you mama. I’ll call you in the morning. I have to wake up by midnight to study.”

Scarlett blew her a kiss. ” Love you too. Take care.”

When the call was over, Scarlett was back to her moodiness again.

Putting the dishes and cups away, she washed up and went to take a shower.

By the time she was done, it was six.

Scarlett walked stiffly in the cemetery, flowers in her hand. She stopped before a headstone and placed the flowers on the floor.

She stood back, eyes reading the name on the headstone.

CRAIG CAGE 1995–2019

Sheila took in a deep breath and let it out. She recalled Craig’s funeral.

It was a large event. A lot of people were in attendance but only for a while after his casket was buried.

Craig didn’t survive the surgery. His illness had eaten deep inside him. He couldn’t fight it. He lost to cancer.

” Hello, Craig,” Scarlett said softly to the headstone. ” How’s it going all the way up there in heaven?”

Silence. A soft breeze blew in the cemetery around Scarlett.

” How’s the afterlife?” She asked, passing her tongue across her lips. ” I know you living in paradise. Well, down here, everything is all fúcked up. The world is so lonely without you. Time just stopped like a traffic light and it ain’t funny though.”

The peaceful quiet cemetery only made Scarlett moody. She looked away instantly.

” Yeah it’s been two years but I still cry tears. I’m depressed and my anxiety ain’t acting right,” she shut her eyes then opened them again. ” Shít, I’ve been hurting. I ain’t even gon’ lie to you I’ve been drinking, getting high, getting wasted, overthinking. It got Soo serious I made a mess of myself. I been praying but the pain is so strong cause every night I cry for you. This shít right here. It’s real personal. It comes from the heart. How I’m feeling, it doesn’t matter.”

She paused, restraining herself from letting a tear drop from her eyes. ” The other day I was thinking ’bout that time when you called me and asked to be your personal pórnstar. We had such a good time together as lovers. The memory still remains a vivid picture in my mind. I can’t stop thinking about it. I do see you in my dreams— sometimes.”

She laughed a little. ” Now every day I prayed for you. And Marcel, he really getting bigger

Looking like the bigger Craig. He put me in the mind of you. Can’t believe you had a kid that takes well after you. Your son is your twin. I swear to God he’s just a lighter version of you.” She pay close attention to the silence of the cemetery. ” I did my best and so did Maria. Marcel knows nothing about your hand in your father’s death. We kept your sins away from him just like you kept mine from Daisy.”

Scarlett couldn’t take it anymore. She buried her hands deep in her pocket and shook her head. ” D–n we really miss you here. Since you left, everything is just different here. Sometimes I wish that I could be with you. I’ve been grinding. I work 24/7 to be honest. I think that is the life for me, the life that gave me the luxury I’m enjoying now. Daisy’s in college, studying. She’s getting real tall, same height as me. She’s also got a boyfriend. I do envy her though. Since you gone, I find it hard to love again. After what you did to me, it seemed impossible to trust a man— any man.”

She sighed, letting out a deep breath. ” June 10th, a day I never could forget. Another week, it’ll make two years. The thought of it just makes me want to cry again. But I won’t cry anymore. I’m moving on with my life. I’ma try again.

Lately I been neglecting myself and my family. And I don’t know why but I think I’m gonna spend more time with my new family. I’m sorry I couldn’t make a baby for you. I do wished I was ovulating when you came in me but unfortunately or fortunately, I was on my safe week. Still, you got Marcel. That’s fine. I take him as my son. Daisy liked him too. You’d be proud to know he’s only six. Mara’s engaged though. I don’t know how you feel about that and it’s definitely none of my business but I’m happy life’s moving smoothly for everyone.”

Scarlett relaxed, smiling broadly. ” Wish heaven had a phone so I could speak to you. Soo many stuffs I wanna tell you but that’d have to wait until we meet again, in paradise.”

Bowing her head in respect, she nodded her head bitterly. ” Gotta be honest with you. I really missed you, Craig. I’ll come visit you again. As long as I’m alive, I’ll keep checking on you. Thank you for everything.”

And with that, she wore her sunglasses, her feet Makin crunching noises on dried sticks and leaves which lay on the floor.

She stopped to take one last look at Craig’s grave. It was a split second but she felt his presence soo near as if his spirit was around her.

Scarlett walked on, until she was standing before her Ferrari.

Scarlett’s business establishment was a train trip away. She couldn’t go there by car.

And so she took the seven thirty commuter train.

As the train raced along the rails, her mind flooded with memories. She remembered pinning Craig against the wall as she tried to fúck him in the female’s rest room.

Seated alone in her seat, Scarlett stared out the window. She couldn’t tell why she was looking out except she was bored.

And very lonely.

She needed a companion. She owns a dog at home and a gold fish but these were only animals. She needed a man.

Her séx life was out of the question. Being rich was one thing, having a man who’d love you sincerely from his heart was priceless.

There are no perfect men out there. Scarlett didn’t want a perfect man. She just needed someone to comfort her and make her feel better.

Mara is engaged, Daisy has a boyfriend and she… She was single.

It’s tough being rich and still expecting true love. Scarlett had been careful. She might find some men attractive but attractive or not, she wasn’t giving anyone a hint of interest.

” Excuse me, can I seat here?” A boy’s voice came to her.

Scarlett raised her head to look at him.

He was really young, should be around his early twenties with the looks of unexplained inexperience of the world.

Scarlett regarded him with interest. Another Craig?

” Why not. Go ahead.”

” My pleasure,” he sat down beside her, rubbing his hands on his shirt.

Scarlett noticed how oily his clothes and face was with black soot. He doesn’t have the looks of someone who was better off. As a matter of fact, he looked like a struggling young man.

To her surprise, she realized she liked him and it wasn’t just because he was young but because of that lost tender feeling she got whenever she was around Craig.

Scarlett turned her face back to the window and stared at the sky.

She smiled.

What would she do now? Maybe she could get herself a personal pĂłrnstar. A young guy built on the same line as Craig.

She had all the money in the world. Why not buy a male pĂłrnstar? Then maybe pay him a million dollars.

It was crazy but Scarlett was very much intrigued by the idea. Craig did it to her. Why can’t she do it to someone else?

Her eyes went to the young boy seated beside her. He had brought out a newspaper and was reading the early morning news.

Would this stranger do? She hadn’t been with a man in two years. Maybe this boy would do; bring back that good feeling that makes her feel like a woman.

He seemed a nice kid but damnit, she couldn’t bring herself to do such a thing.

She needed a companion not a one night stand with a random dude. She wasn’t a hoe. She was a woman with a reputation. Funny how she was once an ex pórnstar who fúck for money and now she’s all about her dignity and pride.

She couldn’t even bring herself to get this boy to her bed. She just couldn’t bring herself to ask him.

Suddenly, her eyes caught sight of a news headline on the papers.

Leaning closer, she read it carefully.

It read: WORLD FIRST ANDROID SÉX MACHINE INVENTED. LAUGHING SEPTEMBER 2021.

Scarlett seized the newspapers from the boy, much to his surprise.

” Hey, I was reading that,” he said.

Scarlett drew out a hundred bucks and dropped it on his laps. ” It’s mine now.”

The boy was shocked. A hundred bucks for just a newspaper. He bought that for two dollars.

What he didn’t know was Scarlett was interesting in one particular news caption.

A female Japanese robotic scientists had just invented an Android robot that looked exactly like a human.

It was designed and program to give séxual satisfaction to it’s user as well as bringing comfort and companionship.

Scarlett’s eyes widened. ” This is it.”

This was what she was looking for. She could pay the company a huge amount of money to create her own séx machine.

A séx machine possessing the face and looks of Craig.

If Craig’s p–n fantasies can come alive, then what about her? She missed him. She wants to be with him again.

If she can’t have him since he’s dead, she can create him with her money.

She would buy her personal séx machine and have it customized as her own.
