I walked to the kitchen feeling sad and dejected ……

i met mama femi,joke and nkechi preparing fruit salad ….

Me: mama femi ,senator needs your presence ….. i said and slugglishly sat on one of the dinning chair ….

Mama femi: keji my dear … she moved closer to me patting my shoulder …. i heard what precious said and i know thats whats making u feel bad …. common you dont have to listen or let whatever precious says or do weigh u down .. remember she is a spoilt brat … she luaghed just to lighten up my mood ….

we all luaghed and i felt a bit relieved ….

Me: just noticing the fruit salad they were making even thought i saw it when entering ….. But why are u making fruit salad ….. i asked ….

Nkechi: oh so nah now u just notice am … when he be say nah face you frown enter before ….

we all luaghed ……

Joke: anyways it our little madam order,, she asked us to make it for her friend ….

Mama femi: it’s tola’s favourite ….

Me: hmm …. she really likes this her friend oo …

Mama femi: why wont she …. have you forgotten …. birds of the same feather ……

Nkechi: flocks together ..

Mama femi: exactly!!

we all luaghed ……

Mama femi: let me attend to the senator , guess he wants to greet me properly …. she said with a smile and winked ..

Nkechi: base on who you are nah ..

Joke: abi oo

Mama femi: jokingly …. see them jealousy….

Me: hehehe … why wont we be jealous … you are the only free and well respected person in this house …

Mama femi: i was once in your shoes dear … she said removing her apron hurriedly and left the kitchen leaving me all confused …

Me: what does mama femi statement means nah …

Nkechi: see you, dont you know before she became the chief maid ,.she was once like us …..

Me: hmmm …. now i get .

it took mama femi a while …..

me,joke and nkechi continued discussing in the kitchen …. not until we heard someone horned at the gate ……

Me: who could that be again …

Joke: who else , if not our dear tola …

nkechi luaghed…..

i was so anxious to meet her , to meet the girl that has chosen to give her heart to the guy i cant stop thinking about ….. i was still lost in my thought when mama femi ran into the kitchen unannounced ….

Mama femi: guess what!!

Nkechi: we all know tola is here …. or isnt that what u wanted to say … she said jokingly ….

Mama femi: yes she is here… but thats not the gist oo …

Me: then what is it … i asked anxiously …

Mama femi: melvin is coming back to nigeria in two weeks time …

what!! my heart skipped immediately… melvin is coming back wow … so i will eventually get to meet this dream guy … but at the same time i felt sad,asking myself whats my joy… cus i know am not even his type .. but the thought of seeing his face alone is enough for me ….

Me: But how did you know ….

Mama femi: i was with senator and chief mrs when he called to inform them that he is finally coming home next two weeks friday ….

Joke: woah…. cant wait to meet him again ..those his cute smile and that baby face …. she said blushing …

Mama femi: you bettet stop dreaming,.if madam hear wetin u just talk ehn …. you are dead …

if there is anyone to be dead am the one … only if they know whats going on in my mind … but the truth is i cant disclose it to anyone cus if madam truly find out that any of his is crushing on her son we are dead true true ……

but wait o … melvin coming home means the marriage between him and tola will proceed …. isn’t it ?

Me: that means tola and melvin are getting married soon? i asked anxiously …

Mama femi: thats a bit certain now oo …. cus i heard chief mrs telling senator about it …..

i felt my heart punctured ….ahh keji u better stop all this ur wonderland dreaming …. and just take your mind off melvin …. no way … it cant even work for you . all u could do is to keep facinating … remember you are just a maid ….i.said to myself ……
