Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 8
Chief Adedeji glared at Ada. âWhat do you think you are doing?â.
She panicked and leaned closer to Bayo. âBayo please save meâ.
âThere are only two options left fatherâ.
âWhat options?â.
âEither you take your company to yourself and I go on with my pilot business or you allow me be with whomever I want to be withâ. Bayo snarled.
Chief Adedeji grit his teeth. âJust look at the way this Igbo girl has brainwashed you. Do you think marriage is just knowing someone for few months and getting married?â.
âI am prepared to love her in an unbending way no matter what happensâ.
âI will never allow this thing marry you! Never!!!â.
âThing? Someone that dedicates her life to working for you is now a thing?â.
Chief Adedeji walked into his car and drove off angrily.
As Ada drove home that evening, she sobbed uncontrollably as she replayed the expression of chief Adedeji in her head when his son had told him that he wanted to marry her.
For once I tried to believe in love again and this person was just using me.
For heavenâs sake, why did I believe in a person again?
Why?
Why did I have hope that I will be appreciated by a person for once?
Why?
She parked her car by the side of the road and sobbed on the driving wheel.
Suddenly she heard someone knock on her side glass .
She looked up.
It was chief Adedeji.
She unwind the sideglass and looked expectantly at him.
He chuckled. âWhat are you crying about?â.
She got off the car and faced him. âWhat do you want?you came to force me to leave your son?â.
He sighed deeply. âBayo is extremely innocent. He is too innocent to have a person like you in his life. He needs a good girl who will be patient with him and understand himâ.
âI am a good girl too! But it is just that people like you make me scared of who I really am because people like you bring out the beast in peopleâ.
âYou donât even love that poor boy! And you want to make him suffer!!!â.
âI love him!!!â.
âNo, you love power!â.
ââŠat least we are on the same pageâ. She entered back into her car and drove off.
Elizabeth Ajayi visited her that evening immediately she was done with her evening bath.
She helped Ada comb her hair in the room as they both faced the mirror.
Ada cleared her throat. âElizabeth, what do you have to gain from helping me and getting close to me? Is there anyway that Adedeji has secretly hurt you?â.
Elizabeth chuckled. âI am not surprised that you are asking me this. A lot of people have given you a reason to question every oneâs love for youâ.
Ada stifled laughter. âAre you insinuating you love me?â.
Elizabeth chuckled again. âSound strange right? I am not a lesbian, donât be scared. But there is something about broken women standing up for each other. I know where the shoe pinches. The reason I broke my husbandâs manhood was not just because he cheated but his reaction after I caught him with that woman showed that he had used me. Men these days use good women. Especially women that they feel can tolerate all their nonsense. I was once a woman that thought that being used was being a good wife. I was a successful fashion designer as at then and I was the bread winner of the house, but no one knew that I was the bread winner. I used to send all my money to his bank account and then, it will look like he was the main person providing. But that day I caught him cheating, he said one wordâŠhe said, âElizabeth, your job is to bring money, tidy the house and take care of our son. Not to be complaining if someone is cheating on you or notâ. That word got me. And then few years later, I watched you closely as you carried out chief Adedejiâs dirty game like his faithful dog. I thought about the outcome and realized how deeply hurt you will be at the end of the day. When a broken person sees a broken person, we understand where the shoe pinches. These men are users. They donât deserve any form of pityâ.
They sobbed in each otherâs arms.
âMy son told me that he wants to marry youâ. Mrs Adedeji told Ada as they sat in the sitting room.
Ada nodded.
âDo you love my son?â.
âI love Bayo so muchâ.
âWhat if after he marries you, he gets another wife?â.
âHe will see no reason to once we get marriedâ.
âElizabeth Ajayi is dedicating most of her shares to the company once you get married. Why do have Elizabeth Ajayiâs backing?â.
âShe is like an elder sister to meâ.
âElizabeth Ajayi is from my side in Ondo state. For five years now, we have been quite close. For her to recommend you, that means you deserve it. I approve your marriage with my sonâ.
That was Mrs Adedejiâs final response concerning Adaâs upcoming wedding with Bayo.
She left the house and at the corridor she jumped into Bayoâs younger sister, Dorcas.
She gave Ada a devilish grin. âYou manipulated my brother into marrying you after you realized that I will take your position from you at the company and you will be left with nothingâ.
âManipulated? Since manipulation is so easy, why donât you manipulate him into changing his mind from marrying me? I didnât manipulate your brother young girl. Choosing me was your brotherâs choiceâ.
âI will make life miserable for you in this houseâ.
Ada dialled Bayoâs number and he connected. She shivered. âBayo please save meâ.
âWhat happened?â.
âYour mum approved of the marriage but your sister is threatening to kill meâ.
âI will be there right awayâ.
She disconnected the line and touched Dorcas on her chin. âWhen a man loves you, you have the power to even turn his mind against his family members for you. Sweetheart, if you donât watch your back, the snake will bite the lionâ. She winked and walked towards her car.
Right in front of the shocked Dorcas, Bayo drove into the compound and hugged Ada as if his life depended on it.
He went on a knee and brought out a ring. âAda Nwankwo, will you marry me?â.
âI will marry you Bayo Adedejiâ.
That was the beginning.
