I’m Vengeance

Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 19

“Move it move it! Bring him here alive, I heard Desmond shouted on his boys and cars drove out of the compound, then I heard his footsteps approaching the door. I hid the gun beside me and he opened up and saw me on the floor first before seeing Precious. He threw the phone he was holding and ran to her carrying her head on his laps,

“My love, can you hear me? Love? He called out shaking her and Precious weakly opened her eyes.

“Joan, she weakly whispered and he turned looking at me which I crawled backward,

“Let me fix this okay, I’ll stop the bleeding, he shakily said crying keeping his hand on her abdomen trying to stop the blood but he couldn’t and Precious closed her eyes.

“No no please and no one is here, I’ll take you to the hospital, he said holding her hand but her hand fell lifelessly from Desmond hand and his eyes bulged out.

“Precious! Precious no! He screamed out keeping his head on her body and I didn’t have the strength to get up myself. My clothes were all stained with blood and I couldn’t feel my hands anymore as I silently cried, then he raised his face from her and looked at me.

“You’ve killed her, he said getting up from where he knelt and I shook my head.

“She wanted killing me, I replied breathing hard.

“And so you killed her? What gave you that right? He asked coming close to me with his eyes red and teary.

“What will you do? Kill me because God gave her the right to take my life huh? Common go ahead because am already dead, I said and his lips were shaking as i saw him raised his polo up to bring out the gun that was between his belt and I remembered the gun. I had no hope of it because I have never used it, but when he pointed the gun at me I quickly touched the gun beside me holding it tight.

“Its enough Joan! I’ve had enough of your shit, its all because of you this is happening to me! How did I even know you? You’re such a bad luck! He shouted.

“Really that should be my lines don’t you think so? I’ve also had enough of your shit so don’t stand there pretending as the victim when you’ve done worst! Desmond go ahead and pull the trigger, I challenged him.

“Sure, he said and immediately I picked up the gun with my eyes closed and shot randomly shouting without seeing until I only heard clicks from the gun indicating the bullet is finished.

I slowly opened my eyes breathing hard and looked at myself and saw blood flowing from my left arm I was managing just close to my shoulder. I gasped and looked up to see Desmond polo stained with blood also and he leaned on the wall with his eyes open looking at me, that was when I saw I was the one who shot Desmond instead and I couldn’t believe it.

“Who told you that? How did you know this? He weakly asked.

“What are you talking about? I asked not understanding what he meant by that or was gun not suppose to kill again!

“Hope you’re happy now? He asked.

“Maybe I was right, I was vengeance after all, I replied and he coughed out blood and fell on the floor.

“You’ll still die after all, my boys will come for you, he said and weakly closed his eyes and I looked around me.

My both arms were bleeding and the blood I’ve losed already can fetch me a huge sum of money if I wanted donating it. I tried standing up I couldn’t, my legs were weak and I began to feel dizzy as I couldn’t see things clearly anymore and I passed out………….

I thought I heard someone calling my name but I was finding it difficult to wake up then I heard strange voices around me.

“Will she wake up? I heard Duke voice and wanted replying him but I couldn’t.

“What the hell is wrong with me? I asked myself confused not understanding where I was and I saw my father.

“Papa? I asked not believing my eyes.

“Joan, my dad said and forced a smile,

“You look good, he continued.

“Thank you and you too, look at you, looks like you don’t want to be old, I said wondering why his looking so good and he smiled.

“What are you doing here? He asked me.

“I don’t know, where am I? I’m hearing Duke voice but he can’t hear me, I replied.

“Go that way, just go straight and don’t look back, my dad said pointing at a direction.

‘I dont under stand, what about you? I asked.

“Joan go now, he replied.

“But papa we need to talk, we haven’t seen each other in a long time now did you travel or something? I asked still clueless of where I was.

“Enough Joan go now! My dad shouted that his eyes glowed and I unconsciously took to my heels going the path he pointed for me and out here, I breathed in.

I slowly opened my eyes but the sight was blur,

“Look she’s awake, I heard Duke shouted and felt someone touched me.

“She’s awake, doctor! I heard Duke voice again running out and slowly my sight became clearer and immediately Duke rushed in with a man on white.

“Sister are you okay? He asked but I looked stupid.

“What am I doing here? I asked myself as nurses got in immediately checking me. I couldn’t feel my both arms and I wondered what was going on and with the look on Duke face as he anxiously waited for the doctor to be through with me got me more worried.

“Can someone tell me what’s going on here? I asked.

“Calm down, do you feel pains in your arms? He asked touching it and I looked at it and saw my both arms were wrapped then I remembered what happened.

“How did I get here? I asked ignoring the question.

“That’s not important but do you feel pains? He asked touching my right arm, the very one Precious pressed hard as if she wanted pulling off my flesh and I nodded.

“Okay, its good you feel pains because we were scared of your arms getting infected and dead, but its a good one you can feel pains on it, nice to have you back anyway, the doctor said and I saw Duke breathed out and made a call.

“Yes Chike she’s awake, he said on phone and dropped the call.

“Thank you doctor, Chike will soon be back with what you sent him, Duke said to the doctor while I watched blank.

“That’s good, now she’s awake let’s all hope for the best, the doctor said touching Duke on his shoulder and left and Duke turned to the other side of the bed and hugged me.

“Sorry I hope am not pressing your wound? He asked and my mouth was just opened looking at him.

“What happened Duke? Why are you crying? I asked and he sniffed cleaning his eyes.

“Am sorry sister but I thought we’ve lost you, we all thought we’ve lost you. You lost a lot of blood and your blood pressure was not helping matter and you fell into coma, he replied.

“How did I get here? I asked and Chike entered.

“Joan! He gently out and held my wrapped hand while I sadly looked at him then he hugged me,

“Am sorry I wasn’t there but it’s over Now, he said touching my cheeks and kissed me on my forehead.

“I thought I was going to die, I said as tears rolled down my cheeks.

“Ssshhh I knew you’ll make it, you’re a strong woman and I knew you will surely get through it, he said cleaning my tears and I sniffed.

“Where are they? And how did I get here? I remember I was with them in a strange place, I said and Chike nodded.

“Don’t think about that now, just take your rest its far important trust me, Chike replied.

“How is everyone? I asked Duke.

“Sister dont worry about anything now, everyone is fine and worried about you. Hungry? Duke asked……………

After I rested, it was then I heard I’ve been unconscious for more than 4 days after I was rushed into the hospital, Duke said.

“By who? I asked.

“By a guy I guess, I saw a strange call on my phone and I picked up and all I heard was “meet your sister in the hospital”. I asked which of the hospital and the voice told me but the distance was far. I begged the caller to give me some time to arrive there and I even told him my location so he will believe I was indeed far, then I called up Chike telling him about the call which he insisted we are not going alone just in case its a trap. We arrived here late and nothing was done on you because there was no money, we had to deposit money and you were rushed to the theater so the bulllet can be taken and the police with us helped to give the hospital report because it was like there were reluctant, Duke explained.

“The guy who brought me here, did you get to see him? I asked.

“No I didn’t, he refused picking my calls after I told him I have arrived, he only told me where you were and that’s it, Duke replied.

“I did, Chike said.

“You did? Did he tell you anything? I asked him and he heaved.

“I was inquisitive to know what happened to Yuh because of your condition and how the caller was able to get to Duke in the first place. I thought they were your kidnappers and when he stopped picking Duke call i was looking around the hospital carefully because i suspected they must be around. I noticed 2 guys carefully sitting at a corner watching and I knew they wanted to be sure we truly came for you then they walked away and i followed them and stopped them outside.

I asked if they were the one who brought you here and all they replied was they don’t want trouble. I introduced myself to them and begged them to at least tell me what happened because I really need to know. That was when one of them told me you were carried by Desmond and they can’t tell what really happened but all they know that they had a gun battle in the bush after escaping from Desmond men. They were able to overpower them and held one of Desmond guys asking where Desmond is hiding so they can pay him back for killing their men. But when they arrived at the area the place was dry and they decided to look around and was so shocked to see Desmond and his wife dead and you were equally lying down on the floor. They touched you and saw you were still alive and they rushed you down to the hospital but they didn’t want to attend to you. One of the guys had to run back to the base when they remembered you called your brother with their phone after they took you and that’s it, Chike narrated and I breathed out.

“Its the guys and am so happy they are alive, God bless them for me, I said.

“Amen, amen sister, but what really happened? Did you really kill Desmond? Duke asked.

“He wanted killing me….. They both wanted to kill me what should I have done? I asked back.

“Wow, I am speechless myself and I had to confirm it was really Desmond though it was difficult to see them if not the police men we brought along, Duke said.

“One of the guys who brought you here said something, Chike said.

“What was that? I asked.

“He said they are still in shock Desmond died by a gun because of the charm they heard he has, if that is so then it will be because a woman shot him and the charm couldn’t help him this time around, It sounds stupid right? Chike asked.

“Desmond asked how I knew about it when I shot him, I didn’t understand that question now I understand, i replied.

“Then it will be because you’re a woman, in every charm there’s always an instruction and a weakness. Wow What a crazy and blessed charm, Duke said and the police men walked in.

“Are you strong to tell them all that happened? Chike asked me and I nodded.

“Officer they wanted killing me first and I had to defend myself, it wasn’t intentional, I said.

“I know, we just want to know what happened, take your time and don’t rush it, we’ll be listening, one of the officer said sitting down beside me as I laid still very weak on the bed.

“Sorry to interrupt officer, are the guys caught? Chike asked.

“What guys? I asked.

“The place Desmond and Precious body was seen some guys came around probably to look for their master and they were pursued, it was the guys who disclosed the place to me, Chike replied…….. ………….
