Then pointing at her, Nathan said,
âListen you cheap thing. I can tolerate every other thing from you. But you sending one of your play things to come confront me, is the height of it all. And I swear by my honour that I will make sure you pay dearly for belittling me. And just so you know, this slap is the least of the things I would do to you if you donât learn to keep my name out of your mouth. And let me warn you. The next time you send that shameless dog to me again, I swear you wonât like what I will do to youâ Nathan yelled pointing angrily at her.
âNathan I didnât do anything. I didnât do anythingâŠ.â Daniella cried sitting on the floor.
And with anger, Nathan walked into the bedroom. A few moments after, he rushed downstairs carrying a travelling bag.
âNathanâŠ? Where are you going with your bag?â Daniella asked amidst tears.
âLeaving the house for youâ Nathan responded.
then walking to the table, he grabbed his suitcase and barged out of the living room leaving Daniella in tears.

From Daniellaâs point of view.
And that was the last time I set my eyes on my husband Nathan. As well as the first time he laid his hand on me.
And after that incident, I picked up my pieces and began living by myself and for myself just like Caleb had advised. And thinking back now, I realised that, that slap actually helped to awaken me to reality.
And I must confess that, living for myself was the best and yet, the most difficult decision I ever made then.
It wasnât easy at first. But as time went on, I got used to it. And for one whole month, I and Nathan both lived separately while minding our businesses like newly divorcees.
With Nathan gone, I got used to his absence but most times, I subconsciously find myself wanting to give him a call to check up on him. I guess that was how much I missed him.
Thanks to Caleb, I was able to overcome loneliness as he was there by my side always making sure that I was doing fine. As time went on, I was able to secure a well-paying job for myself.
Being around Caleb was fun. And every weekend, we both hung out in different places like eateries, bars and sometimes the clubhouse. All these helped me to forget my worries. And at one point, while doing this, I almost forgot that I was married due to how free I was living the life of a single woman. It was more like, Caleb brought me out of my shell.
As time went on, my friendship with Caleb grew stronger and it as well unlocked the lively and crazy side of me that I never knew existed.
Thanks to him, I became more lively and free like a bird that was let out of its cage. And that was when I began to develop a forbidden desire for Caleb.
One night while he dropped me off after our usual hang-out during the weekend, Caleb finally opened up about his feelings for me.
âDaniella?â He called out as I was about getting off his car.
âYes?â I answered.
âI have something Iâve been meaning to tell you. I donât know how this might sound to you, but I think I should let it out,â Caleb said.
âOkayâŠ.? What is it?â I asked sitting back and staring confusedly at him.
âDaniella, I know this is wrong. I know I shouldnât cross my boundary. But the truth is, I canât help falling for youâ Caleb confessed.
Hearing this, I sat there looking all lost and confused with my jaw dropped in shock.
âCaleb I am marriedâ I managed to say in a calm tone.
âTo who? To a man that is okay staying apart from you for a whole month?â Caleb asked.
âCalebâŠ.!â I called out calmly.
âDaniella, listen. You were never supposed to mean this much to me, and I was never supposed to fall so hard for you but I just canât help it. I keep finding myself attracted to you on daily basis. Your personality, your lifestyle and everything about you makes me desire you moreâ Caleb said.
âBut you know thatâs forbidden,â I said softly.
âI know Daniella. I know itâs forbidden but I just canât help myself from falling for youâ Caleb said.
Back then, all I wanted was to give him a chance. But deep down, I knew that whatever we felt for each other, was wrong and forbidden.
âI really donât want to talk about this,â I said blinking my eyes repeatedly.
