Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 3
Dad bailed you out again?â. Dominic said cynically as I joined her in the kitchen and opened the fridge to get trophy.
I didnât turn to look at her or anything.
I was used to Dominicâs childish behavior.
She was only a year older than me and because of the little age difference between us, a lot of people always assumed that we were twins.
Though i was more beautiful than she was because i had a smaller mouth but she was taller than I was.
She sighed bitterly as she watched me pour down the alcohol down my throat. âAll my life, I have worked my ass out but dad never really paid much attention but you that is not always making any effort to please them, they always look at only YOU. Now you killed Gretta but they allowed you to come out of jail in just fifty hoursâ.
I glared at her. âI didnât kill Grettaâ.
She rolled her eyes. âWe both know that you have always been envious of Grettaâ.
âEnvious?why will I be envious of her?â.
She laughed cynically.
âI need to do a DNA test. You act like those hot blooded sisters in Filipino moviesâ.
She ignored me and walked into her room.
I followed her to her room.
She sat on her blue soft bed and elegantly took off her deep blue stilettos.
I watched the elegance she used to take it off.
Dominic was a prosecutor.
She never lost a case but anytime I was accused of anything, she would never butt in.
Did she just hate me or my way of life?
It was just hard to understand.
My sisterâs hard feelings.
âDominic, how was work today?â.
I was always the more mature one.
She sighed deeply. âI have been rejecting this particular case at work but today, I agreed to take up the caseâ.
âWhat case is that?â.
âWhat does a block head know about court cases?â.
I chuckled. âYou never can tell sisâ.
She grimaced. âYou stink like hell. Get out of my roomâ.
I made face at her. âEx-convicts stink at timesâ.
âI donât need an ex-convict in my room right nowâ.
I walked out of her room and trudged to my parents room.
I greeted them but they didnât respond.
âI am sorryâ. I said softly and watched their hard expression. I cleared my throat. âI didnât kill Grettaâ.
This time,my father met my eyes. âIf Raymond Maxson finds a proof, you will have to go back to jailâ.
I watched them closely. âDo any of you believe in me?â. I searched their eyes but they were still doubtful.
My own familyâŠ
My own family didnât trust me.
I walked into the bathroom and turned on the shower.
I closed my eyes as the water poured into my soul.
I creamed and wore a red cagoule and jeans.
It was eleven pm but I needed a walk.
A walk away from my detached family.
Now thinking about it, who would have killed Gretta and set me up?
Who hated me that much?
I walked on along the cold streets of the island.
Suddenly, i sensed that someone was following me.
A red Toyota Camry.
I stopped and the car stopped too.
As expected, the driver got out of the car.
I recognized him.
Ryan Smith.
The son of the chairman of KIA MOTORS.
What was he doing? Why was he following me?
He stretched a hand to exchange pleasantries but I didnât take the hand. âAny problem?â. I asked him curiously.
âI am Raymond Maxsonâs best friend but i am a fan of yoursâ.
I smirked. âFan? Do I look like a celebrity to you?â.
He chuckled. âYes. An infamous celebrity that I have a big crush on. The crazy daughter of Hilary Harrisonâ.
I glared at him. âAre you teasing me right now?â.
âOh no, donât take it personal. I was only jokingâ.
âThe question right now is, why were you following me?â.
He sighed deeply. âI just felt it in my heart that after your father released you this evening, you will feel lonely and rejected so IâŠâ.
âI donât appreciate your pity!â
âI am not pitying you, I am just being understandingâ.
âYou donât even know anythingâ.
âThen tell me everything. I have all the time in the world to listen to you, Rosaâ.
âWhy on earth are you doing all this?â.
âI like this condemned girl that is very lonely insideâ. He said softly.
For the first time in my life, my heart melted.
My heart had never melted for any man but those words he had said to me.
âDespite all you have heard about me, you still donât condemn me in your heart?â.
âThere is nothing bad about you, Rosa. You are just who you are because you are who you areâ.
I cleared my throat. âThank you, Ryanâ. I tried so hard to make sure that my voice does not sound pushy or emotional.
âLetâs take a walkâ. He stretched a hand.
I didnât accept his hand. Instead I walked on.
He smiled and followed me from behind. âYou met Raymond Maxson today right ?â.
I rolled my eyes. âThat guy is a pain in the ass. He is a fake detectiveâ.
âRaymondâs sentimental attitude has almost landed him into trouble several timesâ.
âWhy is the he-goat still your friend?â
âWhy is Dominic still your sister?â.
I gasped. âYou know my sister?â.
âI know her more than I know youâ.
âHow come?â.
âI knew her through Raymondâs father because she works with himâ.
I smiled. âMy sister is famousâ.
He chuckled. âYou tooâ.
âNo, you said it yourself. âInfamousâ. My sister is famous but I am âinfamousâ.
âI am sorry I said that earlierâ.
âYou donât have to be sorryâ.
He held my hand without my consent this time. âRosa Harrison, I believe that you didnât kill Grettaâ.
My heart began to beat so fast. He believed in me? Someone believed in me? Someone I didnât even know. âYou believe I didnât kill Gretta? Why?â.
ââŠbecause the Rosa Harrison I know would never kill anyoneâ.
âYou donât even know meâ.
âI know you enough, Rosa Harrisonâ.
We stared at each other for a while but I was the first to look away.
âHave you eaten since you returned from jail?â.
âI had trophyâ.
âTrophy is not foodâ. He walked to his car and returned with a pack of food. âGet into the car so that you will be able to eat comfortablyâ.
I obeyed him because my stomach was rumbling already.
After eating the Afrikstories chinese rice to my fill and drinking water, I felt so good.
He gave me his business card. âCall me anytime you need meâ.
I met his eyes. âThank you, Ryanâ.
âFor what?â
âFor believing meâ.
I marched into Sparkles company shamelessly.
I ignored the hard stares from my colleagues.
I didnât kill anyone, so why should I avoid the company?
I walked into my office and smiled to myself.
I missed the scent of my office.
Benson rushed into my office. âMother fucker, guess what! The company changed your manager!â.
âWhy?â
âYour old manager is now managing the recruiting departmentâ.
âWho is my new manager?â
âShe is in her officeâ.
âShe?â. I rushed out to see my new manager in her office.
It was a young lady.
She looked in her early thirties.
I was never expecting my manager to be so young. âAre you the Rosa Harrison?â. She asked me with a sneer in her voice.
âYes maâam. I pray it will be nice working with youâ.
âNice meeting you, Rosa Harrison. My name is Mirabel Anderson, the elder sister of the deceased Gretta Andersonâ
