Episode 18

SLY.

They had driven for fifteen minutes before he directed him off the tarred road to a local road.

They drove for another ten minutes before he ordered him to take another turning which led them to an abandoned bungalow in the middle of nowhere.

He’d ordered him out and led him into the building which looked like some hideout place for criminals. In one of the rooms which he led him to was a seat and ropes littered around.
“Sit down.” Sly ordered the guy who hasn’t said a word since he pulled a gun at him. Throwing a rope to him, he ordered him to secure his legs. Afterwards, he told him to get his hands behind the seat to which he got them tied tightly.

“Now here is the deal.” He started. “Answer my questions correctly and we’ll be done here before you know it while I take my leave, do you understand?”
The guy nodded without a word.
“For starters I’ll go straight to the point. Who sent you to monitor her?” he asked.
“I don’t know what you are talking about.” The guy responded holding his gaze.
“Do you think that is the best you can do in this situation? Nah I don’t think so.” Sly said placing the noose of the gun his knee cap. “Now I’m going to ask you again,” he started, “Who sent you and for what reason?”

“I told you already, I don’t know what you are talking abou….” Before he could drop the last word, Sly pulled the trigger shattering his knee cap.

He screamed falling with the seat as blood flowed from his shattered leg. Pulling him up, Sly took his position again before him unperturbed allowing the guy to grasp the situation and wallow in pain more before he resumed.

“Now that you know what I’m capable of doing I’ll ask you again, once. Who sent you and for what reason?”
“Go to hell. We both know that there is no way I’m leaving here alive so why not make it quick and kill me already.” The guy bellowed through clenched teeth amidst pain.
Just as the words came out from his mouth Sly shattered the second knee cap with another bang from the gun. The same process of screaming, falling and pulling up repeated itself as blood flowed covering the floor around the guy.

“I like you for one thing,” Sly started, “you are staunch to the rule of the game; not ratting out on your contractor, but, you know whoever sent you doesn’t care one bit about you. To him it’s just business and whether you get killed or not it’s none of his damn business. So once again who sent you?” this time he placed the noose of the gun on his rib cage.
The visibly shaking guy, bleeding out writhing in pain looked at him pleadingly. The look he saw on Sly’s face gave him no hope to plead for his life. He know that he was going to keep putting slugs into his body till he talks; it was only a matter of time.

“I don’t know anything. We never met. I was only contacted by an unknown number and given the details of the victim.” He cried anguishly.

“What were your orders?” Sly bellowed pushing the gun deep against his ribs.
“I was just told to monitor her movement while awaiting further instructions.” He cried out.

“What further instructions?” Sly asked slowly with a sort of firmness in his voice.
“I wasn’t told, I swear I wasn’t.”
“I believe you have been paid for the job,” Sly started more like a question. “Through which means were you paid.”
“I got a parcel delivered with half the payment, that’s all. The other half was to come at the completion of the job.” He said crying in pain.

“For how long have you been on the job and how do you report back to your contractor?”
“I’m just one week on it and the number calls whenever he needs update or has information to pass across.”
Straightening up, sly walked back a bit and surveyed the guy. For a moment, he felt pity for him seeing that he was bleeding out. He know that there was no help or information the guy has to give anymore. He could see the pain he was in and needed to end his misery by giving him a quick death. Walking behind him, he pointed his gun to his head and pulled the trigger. The guy slumped immediately as his white membranes spilled out some splashing on Sly’s face and cloth. Pulling out a handkerchief, he wiped his face.
Settled on the Lexus, he typed a message on the phone he collected from the guy. ‘Kunle it’s me, Sly. I want you to help me check the last call made to this number and the location the call was made from, thanks’
As the message was delivered, he drove off, leaving the vicinity.
