SOPHIA’S POV

I stared in shock as I saw chief and joe entered. They were never part of my plan and i wasn’t expecting chief so soon.

“Mom sent her and Emily to the supermarket” Ryan suddenly answered, from nowhere.

“Yea. Sent them to buy me fruits” I answered trying not to betray my emotions.

“Welcome dad” Ryan greeted and sat on his father’s lap. “What did you get for me?” He asked.

I excused them and made to walk up to my room when I heard someone entered crying and sniffing. Emily entered with tears in her eyes and her face was kind of swollen. I guess they hit her.

“What? What’s wrong dear.” Chief asked.

“Some… Two people, two men took Sister Bella away” Emily annouced. I smiled.

“What!?” We screamed. I hid my smile.

“Wh…what did you say? Someone… kidnapped bella? In this estate? I mean… ” Chief stuttered and stood up.

He went outside with joe following behind. Emily cried while Ryan just stood still, lost. I quickly walked up the stairs and dialed Stanley’s number.

“Hello…. Look, leave Chris for now, there’s a problem. Hope your guys are already out of the estate? Call them and tell them to drive fast… Chief is around….yes…I don’t know, he didn’t tell me he would arrive…just tell them to drive fast… Chief would order a search party soon… Chase” He ended the call. I sat down burying my face in my palm and standing up again waiting for his call.

Few minutes later, he called. “Yes?… Okay okay…. What?… Why? Why would they also take the car along?…That’s chief’s car… Whatever whatever….don’t call till I do.. Bye” I ended the call.

I quickly hurried downstairs forming a sad look. I asked Emily how it happened. I smiled satisfied she didn’t see their face cause they wore mask and they were with guns but she only heard Bella muffled sound.

“Mummy, I’m scared. Is she dead?” Emily asked.

I nodded negatively. “But very soon. She would” I thought to myself.

I checked the compound but didn’t see any guards. I entered and told Ryan to take Emily in.

There was no way I would go out today. It’s not possible. Joe is kind of sensitive and too active for my liking. I wouldn’t want anyone to suspect not even my shadow.

I picked up my phone and deleted all my messages and call Logs. I decided to take a nap till when Stanley call would come in.

JOE’S POV

We drove round the estate looking around for any suspicious move. I couldn’t just help but wonder how easy it was for someone to be kidnapped in our estate.

I mean, there’s maximum security. The securities check each and every one that comes in.

“No sign sir” One of the guards from the other end of the estate said through the earphone.

After few minutes, chief called and asked how far. He asked us to meet at home that he already contacted the police and they would be here anytime.

We got back home. Chief was already seated making calls. His other phone rang several times but he refused to answer the call.

“Joe, the police would be here anytime soon. You’ll help them. Please, I don’t know whoever is doing this but please, find my daughter.” Chief said sadly, looking helplessly.

The police arrived and we offered them a seat. Chief told them about it and they promised to find her. Their leader asked about more info on how the kidnap took place. Chief called emily to narrate it.

“We got out of the compound and we saw some men working with the sign ‘Men at work’. One of them waved at us and moved towards us. Big sis rolled down the glass and he told us to turn and pass the other end. Big sis turned and passed the other end of the estate as it seems to be the only way out of the estate.” She paused and looked at us.

I nodded, urging her to continue.

“After driving for few minutes, We saw the same sign with some men standing. Big sis moved close to them as it seems there was no other way but there. She stopped few steps away from them. They were wearing mask. All of a sudden, a guy appeared at my side from nowhere and opened the door. He slapped me and pulled me out asking me to lie low. I shivered in fear. I heard big sis muffled trying to say something but couldn’t. I don’t know what happened next. I stood up when I felt someone touch me asking what’s wrong. I looked around and saw no sign board and the men. They’d also taken our car.” She said and burst out crying.

The police excused her and asked Ryan to take her in. They conversed with chief. I took a deep breath thinking about what she said.

“Emily” I called her. They stopped and looked back.

“Bella’s car is in the garage. Which car did you guys take out?” I asked.

“Daddy’s car” She answered.

“Lexus Rx 350” I asked.

“Yes” She said.

The policemen and chief stared at me. I know they’re wondering how I knew. That was the car i saw the other time when we entered the estate. I was a fool not to get quickly that it was chief’s car thinking I’d seen it somewhere and it looked familiar.

“I won’t say anything here cause i don’t trust anyone. I’ll work with the police, sir. I also need few of the guards with me” I said and chief nodded.

ALIYAH’S POV

I opened my eyes slowly. I was feeling drowsy. I looked around trying to be conscious of my environment. I think I slept off. I was drugged. My hands were tied to my back and my mouth was glued with cellophane.

“Be careful or I’ll peel your skin” The guy beside me said. His mouth stinks.

I looked at my front. We were In an estate. I wonder what’s happening.

“Emily. Where’s emily?” I asked myself, tears dropping freely from my eyes. They might have put her somewhere else.

“Why you dey cry? We never beat you you don dey cry” The guy beside me said.

Fear engulfed me. Beat me? Why? What have I done? Soon, the car came to a stop. Out of nowhere, I saw a guy opened the gate of an uncompleted building in front of us.

The car drove in. The guy came down and carried me like a baby on his shoulders. I looked around while the guy carried me as I muffled. My car was parked behind the car. I didn’t see Emily.

He dropped me down. I whimpered as I hit my butt hard on the ground. I cursed silently. I coughed as the awful air of cigarettes filled the room.

“Easy boy. She worth billions of naira. Sit her up on the chair.” I heard a guy said from behind. I guess he’s the leader here. I made to turn to look at him but the guy who carried me up then carried me again sitting me on a plastic chair.

They were up to 7 in the room excluding the guy I didn’t see. He was still behind me. He walked to my front and i could see him clearly.

He stared at my face, then back to the guys behind him. He stared at me again and looked back at the guys.

“Who’s this?” He asked.

The guys looked at each other. They looked at him and said nothing. I was confused. Am I not their target? Perhaps, the guys mistook me for someone else.

“I asked a question! Who is this!?” He barked.

“Boss, na she na. No be the girl be this wey you talk say make we bring come” One of the guys said.

“The chief’s daughter. Bella?” The leader asked.

“Yes boss. Na she. The other little girl go don reach house” Another guy said.

“When shilo was tailing her, who else knows about it?” The leader asked.

“We no know, we just know say you give am assignment. Na only am carry out the assignment except for when you tell them cha cha make them join shilo for Edo road with trailer make dem go crush someone” Another one answered.

“Na the person be this but no be the person. I get her picture for hand. She’s not the one” He said.

I was really confused. So were the guys around, I think, cause they were staring at each other and mumbling.

He brought out his phone and dialed a number.

“Sophia… They’re here already… No, wait… Are you sure this is Bella?… I know what I’m saying. Did she do surgery?… This isn’t the Bella we trailed and crushed the bus she was in… I know what I’m saying… I still have her picture here… The guy is dead… He died in one of our shootout with the police, If not, he would have confirmed… I’ll send you the pic…” He ended the call and stare at me.

He stared deep into my face and asked me. “Who are you?”

Now, the story is becoming clear, that’s if you’re following and understanding. Sophia, chief’s wife is the one behind the accident chief daughter, Bella had. During that same time, aliyah lost her memory and was in the same hospital with chief’s daughter, bella. Joe had taken Aliyah cause she strike a resemblance with chief. Don’t blame him, no one, not even chief knew how his daughter looks like cause her mother took her away at the age of 8. The guard whom chief sent to tail her daughter had died not able to give joe, chief’s person guard details about Bella when they got to Edo state and thus, they had mistaken Aliyah for Bella. And so also, the guy Stanley sent to tail Bella had also died. Only him and chief’s guard who died knew how Bella looks like and they are dead. But luckily, Stanley has a picture of the real Bella.
