ALIYAH’S POV

I rinsed my face and stared at the mirror. I sighed deeply as I cleaned it off with water. I shut my eyes deeply and tried to remember the nightmare I had. I couldn’t. I can’t even remember the words I heard neither did I see any faces. I’ve been having this nightmare for days now.

“Come in” I said as I heard someone knock. One of the maids entered.

“Breakfast is ready ma. Should I bring it up here?” She asked.

“No, thanks. I’ll be there.”

“Okay ma” She replied and went out.

I wonder when they’ll stop using ma for me. I’ve told them several times but they wouldn’t listen except jane. We’ve gotten so close to each other. I really miss her now. She had told me last week that her mother wasn’t feeling fine, so, I’d asked my dad to let her leave and I gave her enough cash to make with.

“Are you insane or something?”

“I’ll report you to mum. Be warned”

“And so, what will she do?”

“As if you can say it in her presence”

“Whatever, what I know is I’m taking three slice”

I heard voices as I walked down the stairs after freshening up. It was no other people than my step brother and sister. My dad traveled out of the country and my step mom? God knows where she is. Always traveling to get one goods or another. They were always against each other all the time. I wonder what kind of twins they were. That’s how they’ve been acting since they got home from school due to strike. I was surprised when I knew they don’t attend private school but a public boarding school. I asked my dad and he told me they wouldn’t be serious if they mingle with people like them and they wouldn’t know what life is.

“Including me?” I asked that day.

“Of course”

“Which school?”

“That’s gone for now. Your documents and files were in that bus and we couldn’t find it. Never mind dear, everything will be processed as soon as the strike is over”

“Mmm… I’ve missed a lot”

“Yeah.”

“And… The processing will be into another public university or….?

“Momma, After all, I attended a state university and here I am.” He said.

“Ryan, what’s up?” I asked as I got to the table.

“Oh! Big sis, Good morning. It’s Emily. She’s…”

“Shush… You’re nothing but a glutton. How can he choose to eat three slices of bread with these lot of scrambled egg? Ain’t..” Emily cuts in.

“What the hell is wrong with you? Is it your tummy?” Ryan was getting angry now. I could see it.

“It’s okay. It’s okay. Ryan can eat all he wants. There’s more than enough food.” I said. “Emily, Ryan is your twin brother not your junior brother, c’mon”

“Yeah, I know he is. I just have to teach….”

She couldn’t complete the statement as Ryan shoved the bread with scrambled egg in between to Emily’s face. I bet I didn’t see that coming.

“F–k you! Who the hell are you!? I’m the heir! Even if we were born the same day, that doesn’t give you the right to talk to me anyone, b—h!” Ryan spat angrily. “And listen good, I mustn’t see you around me. Take that as a warning gift” He threatened and walked away.

Emily removed the shit off her face. “Big sis, I told daddy to let me attend a private university but he refused. The only help he rendered was getting us both into different school but now, for the strike. If not for those MF, I wouldn’t be home to see that MF!” Tears rolled down her face. I watched as she talked silently. Emily is always like that. She starts the trouble and get emotional when the table turns. “I hate him. I really do” She added and this time around broke out into tears.

I cupped her and caressed her hair. “Sorry dear. Stop crying. It’s okay, huh. You…”

“What’s happening here?”

I heard someone asked. My step mom. I walked to the other side of the table and sat down. I helped myself with the bread. I totally ignored her. I hate her aura. We ain’t compatible.

“Mommy, welcome” Emily greeted.

“Why are you in tears?” She asked.

“Ryan hit me”

“Ryan!? Why would he do that?” She asked and I could see her staring at me. “Let’s go. Where is he?”

I closed my eyes for some seconds and opened them back. I was expecting her to say something rash but she didn’t. I glanced at them as they walked up the stairs and our eyes met. Guess she has been staring at me. What for? I hissed and covered the food.

MRS RIDOH’S POV

Days already turned into weeks. My heart was still filled with thoughts. Hope. Hope. Hope and faith is the only thing that keeps me going. My husband had made a call to one cleric and the man had told us that Aliyah isn’t dead but lost. He’d told us to keep praying for her and believe we’ll see her.

Why wouldn’t I have faith in that and believe? What I’ve always wanted. With a little bit joy, I’d resume work and kept praying for my daughter.

Only few people in my place of work knew what’s going on. Outside, people think I’m fine but deep inside…. They can’t see the pain.

Aliyah’s friend had called time to time and I already updated them. It seems they were relieved.

“Let’s arrange a search party for her ma” One of them suggested.

I smiled and told them not to worry. The cleric said she’s safe and only needs prayer. Only a matter of time.

Even the police already stopped their investigation, I think. Cause they didn’t call or bother to reach us.

All I know is, Aliyah is alive somewhere and with prayers, she’ll be back. She will. But when? Tears rolled down my cheeks.

ALIYAH’S POV

My ribs hurt as I laughed. It was as if we inhaled laughing gas. We were all seated at the mini bar in our compound. I was feeling bored and alone since Jane wasn’t around and that witch already hid her chicks inside. So, I told a guard to summon the guards and maids who were around to the bar. At first, they were scared about sitting down saying Big mommy would fire them. Not until I persuade them and promised nothing would happen. I hated her the more. The fact that she installed fears and made them feel like nothing really annoyed me.

I served them all their choices and when I was through serving the drinks. Some didn’t open the drink, wondering what was happening, perhaps. Then I suggested anyone who’s funny to crack a joke and David did.

Soon enough, they were all feeling at home. Laughing and whispering. The gateman soon joined David and it was a laughing arena.I hit David playfully as he cracked yet another joke.

Few hours later, i excused them and went in as I couldn’t help the laughter anymore. My ribs were hurting already and I was having headache. I laughed as I went up the stairs to my room reminiscing about the moment with them.

This was the fifth time I was changing my clothes. I wasn’t just comfortable with the clothes. I hissed and dropped the trouser and crop top I was holding.

“Where am I even going?” I asked myself. “Oh! Jane… I’m missing you.” I whined.

“Lemme take a walk round” I said to myself and put on a plain gown.

SOPHIA’S POV

I changed my cloth after taking a shower and switched my laptop on. I was missing him already. My boyfriend. I placed a video call to him on WhatsApp.

“My ride or die…” He whined over.

“My choice. How are you?” I asked smiling.

“I’m doing alright. Just missing you here”

“Awwwwn….”

“Hahahahaha…So, what’s up? When are you going to be free?” He asked, surprising me with that question.

“But I just left your place”

“C’mon, you know I’m not happy without you by my side. I wish i can just have you all to myself everyday”

“Chris… I understand how you feel. I feel the same too. But you know it’s not possible. I’m married. I…”

“There you go again. Stop reminding me you’re taken, it hurts me.”

“Chris, we’ve talked about this. You can’t hide from the truth. You know I also wish you were mine alone but it can’t work out.”

“Okay. Okay. It’s okay. So, when will I get the remaining cash?” He asked, wearing a sad look.

“Tomorrow. I’ll send it to you.”

“Morning?”

“Yes”

“Okay dear. Love you”

“Love you too” I sighed and ended the call. I laid on my back and stared at the fan rotating.

I wish I could do away with Chief and end every connection I have with him but for my kids. Chris is my dream man. The one I wished to spend my life with but I met him late. I smiled as I remembered my moments with him.

“Bella!” A voice rang in my head.

The smile on my face weared off. I hate her with passion. She really has some guts. I hate her boldness.

“Bold? Is she bold or stupid? She’s just stupid. If she knows me, she wouldn’t act like a bastard around me” I thought aloud.

“Perhaps, she knew about you?” My subconscious said.

I raised my eyebrows. Thinking if possibly, she knew me.

“No. She doesn’t. We didn’t meet. Neither did those idiots met with her.” I thought to myself, speaking out. “And even if she knew, she doesn’t remember a thing according to what her dad said” I smiled to myself.

.

.

Hmm….. Perhaps, she knows about you? Neither did those idiots met with her? Who is Sophia referring to? What’s happening? Don’t ask me cause I don’t know sef.
