CHRIS POV

I woke up with my head banging. I opened my eyes trying to be conscious of my environment. I was in a hospital. Who brought me here?

I slowly sat down and looked around. There was a flask there with me on the table. There’s no police around. I wasn’t handcuffed. I’m supposed to be at the police station now.

The door opened and Fred came in. He was holding a black nylon.

“Fred” I called and made to stand up but my body was weak.

“Easy boy. Easy” Fred said and sat me down back.

“What’s happening?” I asked.

“Eat your food first” He said.

“No. Just tell me. Where’s Sophia. Did you kill her? Where’s Bella? Were you not caught?” I asked.

“Okay. I shot her”

“Who?”

“Sophia”

“Where is she?”

“In the police custody”

“How did it happen? I mean how… What…?”

“Chris, i came late. I didn’t know anything would happen so fast. When I arrived, the gate was wide open and I could see the girl with Sophia. Sophia was using her as cover. And when I saw an opportunity to strike, I shot her in her arm. Only the girl saw me before I took to my heels. You should have been with your sugar mummy in the police custody right now. I didn’t even know you were inside. I hid somewhere when I saw you being wheeled out of the room. Actually thought you were dead. I followed behind till they brought you here and guess… I think they searched your body, they saw your phone and called the last number. You called me last, huh. I came here in disguise of your brother. She was right there yesterday” Fred pointed to the next ward “…receiving treatment also. I came and they asked different questions which I answered. They asked me to wait and called her to identify you and explain if you’re one of them” Fred paused. “You’re one lucky dude. She said she doesn’t know how you came around but she thinks you saw her being kidnapped and came to save her. I don’t know what you did to her but trust me, she saved you. She didn’t even act like she saw me somewhere before.” Fred explained.

“But everyone knows me in the mansion that I’m Sophia’s cousin. And Joe, was he not there?” I asked.

“Yes, he was there but he didn’t came here. Only the police were here with you”

My heart bled joyfully. I cried as he finished explaining. Someone I was wishing evil for. Is it because I stopped the guy who tried to rape her?”

“G..God. Thank you lord” I cried my eyes out. I felt like a saved sinner. “I owe you my life, Bel.. No, Aliyah… I owe you my life” I cried out while Fred patted me on my back.

ALIYAH’S POV

Blood spattered on my face. I gasped in shock. The guy had shot Sophia even before anyone could do something and ran off. Sophia screamed in pain. I looked at her as she winced in pain.

“So, you’re not dead. Is your arm that they shoot that you’re shouting like this. Oloshi” I cursed and kicked her. She should thank God that my hand was tied. I would have beaten her all the beatings she gave me. I kicked her again before the guards could reach her and she screamed again.

Joe came to me and helped me loose the rope.

“I’m so sorry we arrived late.” He apologized.

“Late? How did you know I was here?” I asked.

“The car you took out. We tracked it” He said.

I nodded my head and he supported me out into the car they brought. They drove us to the nearest hospital where I was given pain killers as the b—h almost kicked my intestine out. She really slapped me sha.

“Oloriburuku” I cursed angrily.

“Ma” One of the guards around said.

“No. Never mind”

Few hours later, i woke up and i was alone in the ward. A police man was with me. I was feeling much more better.

“Ma, you’re awake” The police man said.

“Yes”

“Can you please come to the next ward?” He requested

“Okay.”

I followed him and we entered the next ward. I saw Chris lying down, he was sleeping. I looked up and saw the guy that shot Sophia. He lowered his head when our eyes met.

“Ma, do you know him?” The police man asked.

“No”

“Is he one of the kidnappers?”

“No”

“Then how did he get there? Or you met him there?”

“I don’t know how he got there but I think he saw me being kidnapped and came to save me”

“Save you? How?”

“You can see his bad he was beaten. I guess he didn’t know they were many in there, so he entered and came to help me but they overpowered him. If not for the first attempt he made, they would have hurt me.” I lied to them but truth be told he saved me and that’s one reason why I’m helping him. He saved me from being raped and hit me with a wood mistakenly making me regain my memory, I think. Or, it was high time I remember something? Perhaps.

The guy looked up at me. I think he’s surprised I covered for him. I stared back at the police.

“He’s innocent. Leave him alone” I said and moved out.

The next day, very early. We drove our ass to Edo state. I was really nervous. Joe had explained everything to me yesterday night. He said he couldn’t believe this. He apologized for making me go through every shit I’ve been through. I understood. It wasn’t his fault. They had no picture of bella and I could have objected but since I resemble Chief and I couldn’t remember anything. No one’s at fault. It’s God’s doings.

I was really glad Bella had been found. I can’t wait to get home. I swear, i would kill bro Haq for not recognizing me at ICM. I twisted my fingers together.

I brought out my phone and added my friends in school. The ones I could remember. I first sent a friend request to bro Haq, Tife, Annie, ruth, Chioma, my school brother… I just couldn’t wait to see them all.

We arrived at the hospital. It was the same hospital where I was first admitted into. Chief ran forward to hug me immediately he saw me.

“I’m so sorry dear. I’m sorry. I don’t know how to explain this to you. You are..” Chief tried to explain but I cut him short.

“I’m Aliyah, dad” I said.

He stared at me and took a glimpse at Joe. Joe nodded. He smiled and hugged me again.

Then, he introduced me to his wife. He explained everything to me and I couldn’t help the tears that flowed down my eyes. Chief is a good man. A philanthropist. He loves everyone and trust easily. I held his hands and asked for the doctor. We went to the doctors office. It was the same doctor that attended to me then. I thought he would recognize me but he didn’t. I scoffed.

“I’m Ab sir” I said to the doctor.

“Are you sure?” He asked.

“Yes sir. I’ll donate my blood” I said.

Chief and his wife stared at me. They were not expecting that. I guess I’m always full of surprise.

“No, Bella. You just came…” Chief tried to say but I stood up and beckoned on the doctor to let’s go.

“Dad, I’ll help bella. I’ll donate my blood” I said.

“Who is she?” The doctor asked.

“She’s my daughter. The..”

“I’m Bella’s sister. We don’t have enough time, do we? Let’s go doctor”

“Okay then” The doctor replied and led the way.

This was the second day in the hospital. I had donated my blood for Bella. The door opened and Chief entered. He was smiling. I smiled back.

“I don’t know how to appreciate you. You’re God sent. You just turned everything around for good. Had it been you didn’t lose your memory. We wouldn’t have met. My daughter might have been bought into my house and Sophia might have succeeded in her plan. You saved me. I don’t know how to thank you enough, Bella” Chief said.

“Dad, stop calling me bella joor. I’m Aliyah.” I said and he laughed. I grinned and sat up.

“So, when are we leaving?” I asked.

“Today. She’ll get her remaining treatment at home. First of all, let’s get you to your parents” Chief said.

I jumped up and hugged him. He almost fell. He grunted.

“Bella, you’re too strong for me. Don’t fall me down.”

“No dad. I wouldn’t want to. I don’t want you to also get admitted” I joked.

We both laughed.

“Bella!” My dad called out.

“I’m coming. Just packing my loads.” I shouted.

“Do you want to pack the whole house!?” Chief asked from down the stairs again.

I was already at the stairs with my remaining box and I could see him. He was standing with his wife. Bella was in my room, no, her room. She was still weak. A guard came forward to collect the box from me. I was putting on a Bodycon dress that fitted my hourglass figure and accentuates my assets.

“Is this how both of you do?” His wife asked laughing.

“I’m surprised. She’s funny and loving though but she’s not this childish. I think that’s the real her” Chief said. I smiled.

“Okay. We’re good to go” I said.

We got outside and I couldn’t believe my eyes. The maids and guards were all moody. Immediately they saw me, some started crying. Jane ran forward and hugged me. She soaked my cloth with tears.

“It’s okay jane. I’ll visit you guys often. I promise” I said.

“Promise”

“Promise”

“I love you Bella”

“I love you too” I replied and tears ran down my face. I felt like I was hurting them. They’re really hurt seeing me leave. I wiped my tears and looked at my dad, his eyes was also teary.

I wouldn’t want to change my mind. It’s evening already and night was fast approaching. I entered my car and closed the door. I rested my head on the steering and cried bitterly. After some minutes, I ignited my car. Two cars with bodyguards led the way, I was at their back while my dad, joe, david and my dad’s wife drove behind me with two other cars behind them. My anxiety was like the size of a planet.

“Mummy, I’m coming” I said and wiped the tears that refused to stop flowing.
