Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 44
Start from the beginning “Do you think that the baby-?” William trailed off. He swallowed, his Adam’s apple bobbing. I opened the dumpster lid slowly, the stench of garbage greeting me harshly. I coughed and looked inside. The dumpster was pretty deep, and there was a baby carrier inside. I felt a lump in my throat as I reached into the dumpster and picked it up. I placed it on the asphalt, and we kneeled in front of it. I opened it slowly. Inside the carrier , was a baby boy. He didn’t look bad, it almost seemed like he was comfortable inside. There was a blanket wrapped around him and he was wearing a beanie. His wails had stopped, and he was staring at me with wide, hazel eyes. He was squeaky clean, as though he was given a bath and then put here. I took him out of the carrier and held his small body carefully. “How in the-” I cut William off. “We need to take him to the doctor to make sure he’s actually okay.” I said, rocking the baby back and forth.
William nodded and picked up the carrier. He put it in the back seat of his car and I held the baby while he drove. “I’ll call my private doctor, that way we don’t need to wait.” “You have a private doctor?” I asked, amused. “Yes, you got a problem with it?” He snapped. I rolled my eyes. “Never mind.” I muttered. “How old do you think he is?” I asked, looking down at the baby. He was kicking his legs and playing with my locket in fascination. I smiled and rubbed his cheek. “Maybe 6 or 7 months?” William said, parking the car. “Maybe. We’ll find out.” I said. We went into William’s house and upstairs to the bedroom. “You don’t happen to have diapers do you?” I asked. “Actually, I do. When my cousin visits with his family, I keep a pack of diapers for the kids. ” He said, going into the closet for a diaper. “Oh, so where was he at the wedding?” I asked. “He couldn’t make it because a blizzard hit their place and they were stuck.” “Oh, that sucks.” “Yep. I called the doctor, he should be here shortly.” He said, coming back with a diaper and a pack of baby wipes. I began to change his diaper on the rug and William sat down beside him, playing with the baby’s fingers. “He looks like a Yoda.” William grinned up at me. “We are not naming him after a Star Wars character.” I said. “In fact, I don’t know if we should name him at all.” “Then what do we call him while he’s here? Baby Boy?” William asked incredulously. “Okay, how about Mannie? He looks like one.” I said, standing the baby up after I was done. “Hmm, Mannie. I like that. What about you little guy?” William asked, holding Mannie up and blowing raspberries in his stomach. Mannie stared at William and burped in his face. I burst out laughing at the look on William’s face. “Looks like baby Mannie isn’t a smiley baby.” “He just needs to get used to me. But, you little man, have bad breath, let’s get you something to munch on.” William said, patting his head.
