Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 21

It had been four hours since, they all returned from Ola’s house. The whole house was gloomy. James and Victoria mourned the death of their only daughter in the guest room. Mostly James though. He was beside the bed shedding tears which, according to Victoria was crocodile tears. She blamed him for Victoria’s death, she held Felix’s phone tightly. It was the phone, she’d use to bring them all down.

Idowu was tired of living in Tina’s house, he wanted out as soon as possible.

Tina was very confused. There was no doubt that, they had traced the death of those guys at Richard’s house to her. She had begged Idowu not to call the inspector yet. She needed to be prepared for anh question he’d throw at her.

She looked at Idowu sitting at the sofa across her, trying to doze off. The sight was somewhat disgusting to her. She tried to think of what she saw in him, that made her choose him over Richard. It was definitely not his looks, it was his money.

Tina: Wait ooo, my money.

She remembered the cash Idowu was still owing her for helping him kill Richard.

She walked over to him, bent over and hit his arm like a stick on a drum.

Idowu: Ah, ah, Tina, what was that for?

He yawned, allowing bad breath escape his mouth.

Tina heaved her nose in a dorky way to prevent her nose from inhaling the spurious odour.

Tina: My money.

Idowu: ah, ah, what money?

Tina: The five hundred thousand naira you promised to give to me.

Idowu: When?

Tina: Are you seriously asking me when? Abeg don’t play that kind of rough play ooo.

Idowu gave a punk smile, which only provoked Tina.

Idowu: Is it that stuff about Richard?

Tina: Yes!

Idowu: Don’t worry na. I will give you.

Tina: When?

Idowu: immediately, I collect the money from the client.

Tina: I’m not stupid.

Idowu: What do you mean?

Tina: you can’t possibly tell me that, there is no cash in your bank account.

Idowu: There is but, not enough to pay you.

Tina: A hundred thousand naira will do for a start. You can’t possibly tell me, you don’t have a hundred thousand naira in your account.

Idowu had millions of naira in his account but, he didn’t want to spend any of it. He had budgeted those cash for something else. Earlier he had planned to dupe Tina but for, the circumstances that occurred, he found himself at Tina’s house, which was very difficult for him to go with his first plan.

Idowu: Okay, I will transfer it tomorrow, after, I charge my phone.

Tina: Use my phone.

Idowu: No, thanks. It has to do with money, so, I will just be patient enough for my own phone.

Tina: Idowu! Don’t joke with me. I helped you kill the love of my life. What makes you think, I will spare you?

Idowu: Is that a threat?

Tina: No but, you have the whole of tomorrow to send something reasonable to my account, else, I promise you, I will be worse than Gbenga.

Tina left the living room immediately, leaving Idowu completely astonished at her threats.

Idowu had to yell when she was no longer in sight.

Idowu: Do I call the inspector now?

Tina returned to the living room on hearing Tina’s question.

Tina: Not now, tomorrow at noon, after we dispose of that body. In case, they decide to chat.

Idowu: Hmmmm, okay oooo.

Tina: But, you do know, that they are looking for me because of what happened at Richard’s apartment right?

Idowu: I know.

Tina: You better send that money quickly, so that I can think straight and not accidentally mention your name.

Idowu: Another threat?

Tina: No, I’m assuring you.

Victoria stood up with Felix’s phone, she was going to the living room, feigning deaf ears to James’ call.

James: Victoria, where are you going to?, we need to talk about how we’d take her out of here tomorrow.

Victoria: You figure that out yourself. Leave me out of it. afterall, you finally succeeded in murdering her.

James: What? Victoria, do you think, I wanted any of this?

Victoria: if you didn’t want any of this, you shouldn’t have joined stuff that would put all of us in trouble.

James: Where exactly are you going to now?

Victoria: Absolutely none of your business.

James’ anger was off limits. Though, lots of everything happening was his fault but, he didn’t plan for things to happen this way, he was just doing it for them and she didn’t have the right to talk to him that way.

Ola thought of what next to do with his life, now that he didn’t have a gang. He had refrained from the thought of going after Victoria, killing Laura was enough. He wondered, if her dead body had been found. He brought out his phone to send a text message to Victoria and James to inform them to carry their daughter’s body, when Victoria’s text came in first. It read,

“It’s Victoria, I have seen my daughter’s body. You killed the wrong girl. I know you were angry about Felix’s death but he wouldn’t have died if Richard was still alive. And guess what I know? I know who killed Richard”.

Victoria paced restlessly in the living room, ignoring Idowu’s incessant snoring sounds, reading the message again, wondering if it was well constructed and if Ola would actually reply. Minutes later, the phone beeped.

She was thrilled to see, “a new message from Ola”. It read,

“Your daughter’s death was your fault because, you killed Felix but, I’m interested in knowing who was responsible for Richard’s death. I know, it’s the people, your husband works for but, I can’t point a finger at anyone so, I will kill them all, including your husband, except I get the main murderer”.

Victoria clenched her fists after reading that text. It was annoying to be reminded that her daughter was killed for stupid reasons.

Victoria: D–n bastard! That’s why you killed my daughter.

Ola felt Victoria was playing a prank when she sent the next text message, which read,

“Tina connived with Idowu”.

Ola: Victoria, Richard babe. Na lie.

He sent a reply,

“That’s a very big lie. I might be angry at Victoria now for protecting your husband but, Victoria would never do that. Stop trying to play tricks”.

Victoria buried her face in her left palm after reading it, if she didn’t give the right response, their conversation would be terminated and her plans would be shattered. She had to think carefully before typing the next reply.

“Why would I lie to you? You have killed my daughter, I’m simply doing this to avenge her death. I will expose all the people you need to kill. Don’t think, I like you by telling you this, I’m coming for you too. I’m just informing you to know your true enemies.”

Everything she typed was the truth, this was just a tip of what she had in store for all of them.

Ola cringed at the sight of the text message. He knew, it was coming from a desperate woman, a desperate angry woman. She had no reason to lie, therefore, he decided to be reasonable.

“what proof do you have?”

He sent it without hesitation.

Victoria stared at Idowu opposite her, that was her evidence. Hence, she typed,

“You know, that guy, Idowu. The one my husband works for, is here in Tina’s house. In fact, we are all here, my husband, my daughter’s body, I, Idowu and Victoria, if you doubt it, pay Victoria a surprise visit tomorrow morning, don’t forget to bring your gun or whatever nonsense you have.”

Ola was enraged, how could Tina do that to him. He typed,

“Expect me tomorrow morning, tell Tina I’m coming”.

He was coming to kill them all, Victoria inclusive. He didn’t stop to think of the possibility that it was a ploy.

Victoria would have chuckled after seeing Ola’s message but, her daughter was dead. There was nothing to be happy about. She typed immediately,

“Okay, Tina doesn’t have to know, I told you anything”.

Ola read the message, this time, he gave no reply. He concluded that, even if he couldn’t get inside Tina’s house, he’d call her out and murder her. He thought of the possibility of Tina and Victoria planning something but he was sure that Tina would not want to put her own life in danger. What he didn’t really understand, was why Victoria was giving him such important details.
