Episode 7

If there was one valid thing I knew about Francesca’s behavior, it was her bad temper over the slightest and the stupidest issues one could ever think of. The rate at which she overreacts over minor issues was getting out of hand—undoubtedly getting out of what my patience could tolerate. I couldn’t bear her constant nagging and insults anymore. I couldn’t put up with her pride any longer. I was getting pushed to the wall to take a drastic action against my will, especially when she starts misbehaving as usual.

Of course, in life, no human being is perfect, but there are certain limitations to some things people are meant to do with their imperfections. Unfortunately, this was something my fiancée couldn’t seem to understand as a woman who would get married soon. If only she knew that this one flaw was the only setback we had in our relationship, maybe she would change. If only she could take heed to simple corrections, perhaps she might turn a new leaf. Who knows!

Knowing the kind of person she was, I had predicted her next move after she had complained about her laptop in my possession. I knew she would try to snatch it away from the desk as ruthlessly and forcefully as she could, so I stood up, carried it up and informed Lola not to worry about me before logging out of my account and then I switched off the laptop, stretching it with my two hands towards Francesca’s open wardrobe without sparing her a glance. I knew she would stop at nothing to create a scene and I was well prepared for her drama than I had ever been. This time around, I was determined to stand my ground at all costs, even if it would cost me my last drop of blood. I just had to.

“If I stay on my own and try to maintain peace in this house, you would surely be the one crossing the line and asking for my trouble almost every time!” She started talking, pointing a finger at me. “Tunde what is your problem for crying out loud! Look at me.” She gestured with her other hand at her own body, starting from her head down to her toes. “I mean, take a very good look at me! Am I not enough for you? What else would you possibly want in a woman that I don’t have? Tell me what else you want, you selfish cheat!”

I shot her a disgruntled look. “You seriously want to know what else I want in a woman that you lack completely?”
“Yes, I’m dying to know!” Francesca affirmed harshly. “Spit it out right now.”
“Respect!” I spat out the contents of my heart, still holding her laptop in my hands. “This is one thing I truly doubt you can ever have for a man! You’re just too arrogant and irrational for my liking. I wish you could go back to the old you I initially fell in love with! I’m sick and tired of your nonsense attitude. You’re getting on my nerves! You’re really driving me insane!”
Despite everything I said, Francesca’s rage only grew worse. I could see the lackadaisical look on her face as well as the way she clenched her jaws and her fists, probably hoping she could strike a punch in my face right then and there.

“So, in other words, are you trying to tell me that I’m meant to be a mere slave to you?” She shot back at me, glaring at my eyes. “Just because I’m your fiancée doesn’t mean I should accord you more respect than I’ve already shown to you so far! Who the hell are you? Who do you think you are, my alpha and omega?”
“Shut up!” I countered tersely, gritting my teeth the way I usually did to control my anger. “Just shut that trash can you call a mouth for once, Francesca!”
“You don’t tell me what to do!” She barked and shook her head furiously like a mad woman. “Don’t you even dare tell me to shut up again! I won’t take it lightly with you. I am an adult. I have the freedom to speak anyhow I want to. Stop trying to justify your wrongs and accept the fact that you are cheating on me. Heartless hypocrite!”
“Oh.” I simply muttered, nodding my head after I completely understood where she was coming from. “Is that what you think? You think I’m cheating on you?”
“It’s not a matter of what I think.” She sounded apathetic. “It’s just what I know for sure! Your actions are crystal clear. Even a blind man can see through your lies and deceit. You can’t even fool me! I’m ten times smarter than you are and would ever be.”

“You know what your problem is?” I said softly, sending her a killing, cold glare. “I’ve said it a thousand times and I’ll always keep on saying it even if it hurts you. You are just so ignorant and proud and the painful part about this entire thing is that you don’t even realize it at all. You don’t know how to relate with people, especially those who are victims of circumstances and those who lack credible finance. You think you are above everyone. You have no manners! As beautiful as you think you are, you still snore badly when you sleep. You are rude, pompous and — dare I say — utterly useless.”

“Me?” Francesca’s voice surprisingly turned soft at this point as she gestured with her hands on her b0s0ms. “Are you talking to me, Tunde?”
