Let me explain
November 7th, 2022
Harlow Hanes
It’s only been four days since Salem and I made our relationship official and I already fucked up. I haven’t been able to talk to JJ about what’s going on because he hasn’t been around much. He’s preparing his basketball team for nationals so he’s barely home, and he has an issue with keeping his phone charged.
He was supposed to be home at his regular time today but today is date night for me and Salem- well Salem and I are going out with the girls together but I’m not sure Salem and Jason being near each other is a good idea.
I should’ve broke things off with him after I started having feeling for Salem but I was thinking with my vagina, not my brain. I just feel really bad.
There was no school today so Halo and Atticus were at JJ’s parents house. They’re supposed to be back later tonight so Lilian and I were child free which is why today would be perfect.
We planned on leaving the house around seven-thirty and me and Lilian got off at five-thirty. Perfect timing.
“Cat, table three is waiting on onion rings. What’s the hold up?” I asked her.
“Reggie put Andy in the kitchen because of Eloise! He’s slow as fuck.” She groaned.
I’m not sure why Reggie thought that was a good idea but I stopped questioning him a while ago.
“Now why the hell…it doesn’t matter. I’m gonna switch Lilian and Andy. Go in the kitchen and ask Warren to make them something quick.”
She gave me a small nod before scurrying off. I walked around the diner for two minutes before I found Lilian. She was talking with Stephanie but their conversation was going to have to wait.
“Lilian, I need you to switch with Lil’ Racist.”
“Where is he?” She questioned, raising a brow.
“Kitchen. He’s causing problems with my timing. Steph, sorry to interrupt.”
“No worries!” Stephanie smiled, “I gotta get back to work anyways. We have like three interviews tomorrow.”
We needed to replace two of our best cooks. Eloise because of her baby, and Victor because he was hit by a bus. Broke both his legs and his neck. The fact that he’s still alive is truly mind boggling.
“That’s cool. Tomorrow put Diego in the kitchen. He’s quick.”
“Will do.” She nodded, walking away.
I went back to my office so I could get a little bit of work done but I was interrupted literally two minutes later. I can never catch a break.
“I have to wait my tables and Lilian’s?” Andy questioned, his arms folded as he stood in the doorway.
“Yes, yes you do,” I answered, giving him a large smile, “Is that an issue?”
“That’s a lot.” He pointed out.
“That’s what you get for being racist.” I shrugged, returning my attention back to my computer.
“I’m not racist!” He yelled.
I began to look all around the small room I was in. My head moved quickly as I tried to identify who he was yelling at.
“Ask me who I’m looking for.”
He let out a loud sigh. “Who are you looking for, Harlow?”
“Who the fuck you’re talking to. You can yell at Steph, and Lilian, and Cat, and Reggie, but you will not yell at me.” I laughed dryly.
He must have forgotten who’s in charge of his money. I could easily change his clock in time.
“Sorry or whatever. I’m just tired of being called racist. I slipped up once!” He defended.
